Micron is actively seeking a Construction Quantity Surveyor to support our New York Expansion at the new site in Clay, New York. This role is a crucial part of the construction and engineering departments, focusing on cost management throughout building projects. The primary objective is to ensure that construction projects are completed within the approved budget, on time, and meet Micron’s high standards for quality and performance.
This is a hybrid position based in Clay, New York. If relocation is required, we will provide support to the selected candidate. Until the necessary space becomes available, remote work may be permitted with the intent to transition to the Clay site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation & Feasibility Studies:
Conduct detailed feasibility studies to estimate the necessary materials, labor, and time for various construction tasks. This includes close collaboration with other departments to ensure that all financial aspects of projects are accurately projected from the outset.
2. Tender Management:
Prepare, negotiate, and analyze costs for tenders and contracts. As a key member of the team, you’ll work closely with architects and clients to prepare contract documents, including bills of quantities, to manage the project costs effectively from start to finish.
3. Cost Control & Analysis:
Perform thorough cost analyses for all aspects of repair and maintenance work. You'll be responsible for providing accurate insights into project costs, managing any adjustments, and ensuring that we get the best value for money while maintaining high standards of quality.
4. Risk Management:
Implement risk and value management practices during the construction phase. Your expertise will be critical in identifying potential cost-saving opportunities while also mitigating financial risks to the project.
5. Contractual Support:
Provide expert advice on contractual claims and disputes. You'll help resolve any conflicts by ensuring clear communication and well-documented processes throughout the construction process.
6. Work Supervision & Budget Adjustments:
Supervise changes to the design and construction work, making necessary budget adjustments. It is crucial to keep all stakeholders informed and ensure that any changes align with the overall financial strategy for the project.
7. Compliance with Laws & Safety Standards:
Ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant health and safety laws. Maintaining a safe and compliant work environment is essential for both the project's success and the wellbeing of the workforce.
8. Collaboration Across Teams:
Coordinate work efforts across multi-functional teams, including local teams, to align project strategies with the overall goals of Micron’s expansion in Clay, New York. This collaboration is vital for maintaining smooth operations and ensuring that all project milestones are achieved.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant work experience in lieu of formal education will also be considered.
Certifications & Memberships:
Membership or accreditation from recognized professional bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is highly desirable.
Work Experience:
Proven experience in Quantity Surveying, with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and contract law, is essential. The ability to manage project budgets and control costs will be crucial to your success in this role.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in project management, cost analysis, risk assessment, and contract negotiation. A comprehensive understanding of cost control methods and value management is required to meet project goals efficiently.
Salary Information:
Micron Technology offers a competitive salary for this full-time position, which ranges between $79,000.00 and $135,000.00. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors such as location, work experience, education, and skills. Additionally, you may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as bonuses and equity, which are based on the company's financial performance and individual contribution.
